I can’t help but feel “the recognition of one as inferior and subordinate to a greater being” does aptly define worship.
On my post about the difference between belief and worship, Quackzalcoatl made a point that we may not understand the definition of “worship”, which was developed much more in John Zande’s post which showed that worship annihilates our autonomy (and can never be justified). John’s post defined worship as:
Worship is the recognition of one as inferior and subordinate to a greater being
Worship of God includes the total abandonment of one’s moral autonomy in favour of blind, non-questioning obedience of God
I’d appreciate feedback from other religions, but of the Christian God this interpretation of worship seems perfectly apt.
“Thou shalt have no other God before me”
“I will be seated at the right hand of power” Jesus, Mark 16:42 (who is Power?)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5-6
I’m trying something new here…
